Our Partners

The objectives of H2MAC project can be achieved only through a multidisciplinary consortium with a well-balanced contribution from partners, covering the needs and complementing the knowledge basis and expertise. H2MAC partners have been carefully selected based on the added value they give to the project.

The H2MAC consortium includes 8 partners from 5 countries (Spain, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Turkey) each having knowledge and experience in relevant scientific and technological fields required by the objectives of the project (electrification, hydrogen, vibration and noise mitigation, …).

The consortium is composed of different research and technological partners (ITA, TAU), component manufacturers (BALLARD, MANN+HUMMEL), Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) manufacturers (HIDROMEK, ZB) and private non-profit organizations (ANMOPYC, FHa), all committed to the promote the use of hydrogen as an energy vector.

ITA, with a vast experience in coordinating European R&D projects, will be the Project Coordinator. ITA will count on the huge experience of ANMOPYC on the field of the construction and mining machinery manufacturing, who will act as Technical Manager. Besides, ANMOPYC will play the role of Dissemination Manager taking advantage of their positioning on this sector. FHA, expert in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, will contribute with its deep and first-hand knowledge of the hydrogen economy as Exploitation Manager.

ITA, BALLARD, TAU and MANN+HUMMEL will work closely together, with the support of FHA and ANMOPYC, to develop a modular, reliable, scalable solution to enable the transition from current diesel engine NRMMs to hydrogen FC NRMMs. They will work following the specifications drawn up by HIDROMEK, ZB and ANMOPYC, who will ensure that all the developments of the project are suitable for the applications to which it is aimed (construction and mining sectors) and for its subsequent commercial uptake.

ITA will bring to the project his experience, expertise and existent infrastructure for digital twin modelling and simulation in the field of power electronics, mechatronics and thermofluid-dynamics, together with the expertise in acoustic and vibration testing.

TAU will be focussed on the design of the electrification of the machines, to this end TAU will do the digital twin considering the new electric drives. Besides TAU will test the solution in a test bench for electric motors, to gather information to feed the digital twins. This numerical-experimental approach will ensure the robustness of the system design.

FHA will support as RTO with expertise in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, complementing the knowledge of ITA and TAU, and ensuring compliance with hydrogen related regulations, codes and standards and safety issues.

BALLARD and MANN+HUMMEL will design and adapt their components, in particular to the harsh conditions (dust & vibration) during regular NRMM operation, which will be integrate and tested in the prototypes of hydrogen FCE propelled NRMMs developed in the present project.

HIDROMEK and ZB will develop newly designed an excavator and a shredder respectively to integrate the project developments (FCE powertrain and auxiliary systems), supported by the specialised technological partners. These OEMs have a proven track-record on R&D developments to enhance their product catalogue and support cutting edge technologies for machinery enhancement.

The prototypes of FCE-excavator and FCE-shredder will be demonstrated in a real quarry, owned and ruled by the companies of the ZB group, partner of the consortium, ensuring the commitment and availability of the use-case by the time of the demonstration, and allowing the testing under actual real conditions to ensure the wide replicability and scalability of the solutions. The associated partners, ZB Services and HIDROMEK Spain, will support the project team conducting the demonstration.
